Best one yet =)

Not many complete and beautifully drawn games are submitted into the contest yet. For now you stand as my fave out of them. Good luck, i never thought a kid's game could be so fun XD

Banjax responds:

Thankyou very much! I'm glad you liked it :)

Just so you know...

I get a black screen and the game doesnt work. I have flashplayer 9 and ive played as3 games b4 too. Maybe smthn to look at? I got a normal processer and high speed internet. Once i press play the game doesnt do anything and im left with a black screen.

Didnt vote, and gave u a 9 just so its not a 0 XD

Septenary responds:

O_o That's not good. I've never encountered an error like that before. Were you running Windows? Thanks for telling me - I'll try to look into it.

I like your rhythm games, btw. :P

Simple Clean Fun

Did expect more from you EXP, but otherwise the game is original enough to interest me....not fun enough to get me hooked. Simple graphix, great gameplay ( i wish i had a mic tho ), and interesting concept. Nicer visuals would be an improvement, but otherwise it was ismple enough to pick up and play.

GL to you,
Coolio-N

The-EXP responds:

Damnit Niato, you needed a mic for it to be MAXIMUM fun. Anyway, i reckon it turned out ok for 3 days work :p, oh, and something else, but i'll PM you about that...

Not what rhythm games should be like...

I was playing this and thinking of just how poor of an example this is of a rhythm based game. The levels did get increasingly harder...but it was really no fun to play. The sync didnt seem on, but the gfx made up for that which rly shudnt be the case in any game. The arrows also confused me in the way they were set up with the down arrow on the right side, as opposedto the correct layout of the arrows.

Overall: Gfx were superb no question, but judging on gameplay, interactivity and fun, it just wasnt....(and i beat all 5 levels)......

GL in the contest,
Coolio-N

Dave responds:

My take is that changing things around like the arrow keys adds challenge to it, as opposed to 100% cloning every other rhythm game out there. Dare to be different!

AMAZING!

I LOVED IT! Best guitar hero clone EVAR. Great gfx, fun gameplay, good controls, awesome musix! Although easier than the prev version, and like XceeD i liked the prev. one more, this game is awesome. Def. deserves a higher rating but you should still be incredibly proud of yourself for making such a game. Great sync and simply FUN! Gl on your future endeavours.

Two thumbs up,
Coolio-N

INsaNoX responds:

Thanks. :)

This doesnt seem like....

something truedarkness would make.... Why's he in the co-authors?

Venom99x responds:

Hey, it's TD =p
Yeah, I did the programming for this. It's nothing special, just a simple dress-up game that we embarked upon. Venom99x is one of my best friends in real life, and he's a great artist, so we just made a little something together.

Good for the most part.

The second game, not chaoz, was original and fun. Chaoz on the other hand just seemed to me to be a ripoff of all the games ive ever made, but since it had good graphix and interesting gameplay ill let that pass.

Overall 7/10
4/5
Peace,
Coolio-N

Phendrana responds:

Thanks for the 4, but don't credit yourself so much for Chaoz. I made it last November, but hadn't finished it up until this contest gave me the incentive. And if I remember correctly, you've used plenty of other game ideas/styles in your games (some of which are for this very contest).

Again, thanks for the positive review, but please don't use words like "ripoff". I don't appreciate that very much.

Best Flash version of EBA.

I really enjoyed this one =) You have got to be my second competitor (after tyler's incubus pulsum) that I want to see do good. Best replication of Elite Beat Agents i have seen and i know how tough it must have been to code this engine, Ive tried to make a similar one before.

+ Great graphix
+ Near perfect sync (hard to pull off =] )
+ Great choice of music, especially the last song.
- Differences in difficulty didnt seem all that different.
- Wouldve loved something to unlock by the end, or at least a min of 5 songs

Great job and good luck in the competition,
Your rhythm based pal,
Coolio-N

XceeD responds:

Hey :D! I must say that you and tyler are my biggest competitors. I really hope you guys win too :D.
I'll be sure to add some unlocking later on, esp. when I get more songs.
Thanks for the review and good luck in the competition.

I really like this game ^^

I prob shudnt be saying this since you are a competitor...but i rly enjoyed it. sure it was hard at first but percevering i got to the hard song and got (i think) halfway thru it before finally giving up. Medium tho took me like 15 tries :S

As mentioned earlier the animation of the insect or w/e in the middle kinda does throw you off, and if you mess up enough that theres no song to be heard the game gets even harder XD otherwise its so original and fun to play...i have to give it an overall 8/10.

Sadly enough some NGers arent used to rhythm games and so will find this game incredibly impossible, even the first level, so rather than waste your time telling them to retry or that they'll get better after a few tries, ignore those reviews, in their minds they're still going to think its too hard.

Overall its a great game, no doubt about it. Amazing graphix and fun gameplay. Difficulty is high but I love that =) ill be sure to play again.

Peace,
Coolio-N

Glaiel-Gamer responds:

as long as you don't downvote as a competitor it's cool. That's probably one reason why these rhythm games are scoring so low.

An ok twist on tetris.

Definitly new, this game brings originality to the table. Unfortuneatly the poor sync of it is its downfall. All the songs were synced in the exact same pattern and the beat meter was extremely hard to follow. Negative scores really destroy the fun of this game but otherwise the idea is new.

Graphix:simple
Style:New n original
Sound: Gets repetitive
Violence:none
Interactivity: Hitting keys to the beat didnt seem to be to the main or loudest beat at all...rather a more metronome type pressing time.
Humour:none

Overall: Good game, needs a few more things to make gameplay more enjoyable like better sync and different score system. Best of luck in the competition.

Peace,
Coolio-N

Fickludd responds:

Thanks for the review! I was going for something new but where you had to stay in rhythm (not merely generating enemies to the beat). Then i didn't wanna make complicated beats because that would have made it too hard i think =P. Perhaps Metromone Tetris would have been more accurate...

I the end it seem like making a Guitar Hero type game would have gotten me lots of higher scores, but maybe originality WILL count for something :D!
