cool game dude it rocks but what is id#? i dont know how to put it to added a song

It's the ID number of the song on NG. (The big number at the end of the link to the song)

very nice dude!!! i like how theres 2 different ways to play the songs with the circle and the guitar! i also like how you can search for your own songs to play, well nice job dude!

3 different ways :) Just the last way is rly hard to play so not many people make songs for it.

This game is really cool. The idea of user created music levels is fucking tight.

Thanx :)

This is a cool idea. It's kind of like a FlashFlashRevolution (The DJ game is also very similar to SpinItUp), only anyone is free to add their steps without having to go through a set of judges. The fact that you can directly import a song from the audio portal is brilliant. I could see myself spending hours making charts to songs for this game.

However, the editor is quite flawed. I honestly don't know what kind of capabilities the editor could have in flash, but it doesn't give you nearly enough freedom. The fact that you have to record the notes and can't go through the song freely placing them is extremely frustrating, and it makes it nearly impossible to get everything on sync. At the least, it would be nice if you could see the notes, move them around to get them on sync, and test the file before you save it. If you're familiar with the step editor in the DDR games you'll know what I mean.

I've grown up on rhythm games and have played StepMania (a free DDR simulator for your computer that lets you create and sync steps to any song you want) for years, so I know a LOT about placing notes to beats. I'm just throwing my thoughts out. I'm sure a lot of people are happy with the game, or should I say the editor, the gameplay is fine, but if the editor gave me more freedom to work with the charts... oh, man... I would make it my duty to dominate the highest ranked and most popular boards.

Oh, and I did try making some steps... it, eh, didn't turn out so well. I should memorize a short song and try again.

Cheers,

Sulfer

Thanks for all the comments. We'll definitly think about it more if we ever make a sequel. The only reason we made it so simple to begin with is just so ANYONE, young or old, could do it with no problems. Of course syncing songs would be harder, and mistakes more often, but watchu gonna do right :)

Quite cool. I never look at instructions much so I didn't know what to do at first. But its awesome. Seriously, cool. Good work.

btw, is there any way to delete one of your songs? Let's say, I made a chart to something, but wanted to try again. I don't want to clutter the game with a half dozen different versions of it.

not at the moment but we are implementing that in now before we release further.

I've seen huge community-track made music games before, but never in flash, and it was never so easy to make something. Amazing as usual!

Awesome, I'll chart one of my songs later (it's not one of my best but it's one of my most popular and is kind of the only one that works for a rhythm game) :P

fuck, I just released my shitty test run haha

Oh, man. This game is something I've been waiting for. Check out Discordant Nocturne. Its a bitch synching a 5 1/2 minute song.

Already uploaded a couple of songs.

Woah, and I saved one where you do nothing until the end.

Heh.

Man, this game is really hard for me, even on easy :/ I don't play many games lol.

Hehe.

Woah a few of my songs are already on there! Coooool!!!

Sweet :)

You're heavily leveraging the NG audio portal and structure, but didn't even release it on NG 1st? That seems strange to me, the game concept, though, is absolutely fantastic. Choice of screen size and menu system, as I mentioned before, is really text heavy and cluttered...but the platform you guys have made is genius.

It'll get there :) It's like... a little setup before NG gets it. We're constantly modding the system to work a bit better before the web-wide release.

Ha! It was a matter of time before someone made this game. Good job.

I feel like I'n helping someone by playing it, but that's probably an overstatement.
You should be able to test a song right after syncing it.

cool! the only problem i have with it though is when i'm quickly going back and forth, the swf width seems a bit too narrow and the controls become unresponsive when i go a pixel distance out of the game and it ruined a lot of my combos

but its fun nonetheless! nice.

:(

NE WAYS

I highly suggest different builder modes:
fast draft (what you have now)
segmental (like what you have now but can do one part at a time [like in dj disks move the mouse and then in a seperate tun click]
Complex (something similar to the frame system of flash... or something.)

i'll see.

pretty neato

For some reason, when I click save, the song doesn't save at all. What's the problem?

ur putting less than 30 notes in.
