Coolio-Niato's News

Posted by Coolio-Niato - January 11th, 2010

So um.

Hey guys :) I've been out of the loop for a while, well, simply not as active on NG lately.
Uni is tough but interesting, and this second semester ain't as hard as the first.

SO THREE THINGS OF INFOS!

1) Remember 5 MIN SHOOT EM UP ON NEWGROUNDS

Well it made it to Miniclip! My first game there, awesome :)

5 MIN SHOOT EM UP ON MINICLIP

2) Ever really give a damn about the life of a game developer? Didn't think so, but if you really want, there's an interview about who I am over at Armorgames.

3) Call to all game artists and programmers! Jan 29th is fast approaching and you all know what that means. Global Game Jam is coming! I'll be participating this year and I hope a lot of Newgrounders will join in as well.

Alright, that's pretty much it. Shout-outs to Bytejacker, Tigsource and Explosm.net for keeping me sane through uni.

So I got around to submitting the final two games I had left on my computer this summer. Hopefully you'll enjoy them. To make it easy to choose which game to play, I'll break it down into categores;

Brain Train - Much like the DS games cept better graphics and watnot.

Wordsmith - Word-making game; reminiscent of Scrabble.

And just for those of you who haven't played yet;
Super Xtreme 5 Minute Shoot Em Up Quick shmup with NG medals.

Well what're you waiting for? Go play smthn :)

I'm off to Uni of Waterloo for Compsci starting Sept 6th, pretty excited. If I do find spare time I might work on flash, but till then it'll be another dry spell from me. I guess 4 games in one year ain't too bad. Been awhile since I hit the FP tho. Maybe thatll motivate me to make another game before the year is out.

Side note: I really like that the frontpage has turned into a showcasing of unknown indie creators; makes me feel all warm and snuggly inside that these guys are getting their chance in the spotlight too.

Well I guess that is all.
Twas fun guys.

Medal API works now. Sorry for that. AS3 issues.

Explosions and such can be found in the game I just released on Newgrounds;
SUPER XTREME 5 MINUTE SHOOT EM UP

Been a while since I've submitted something to Newgrounds, so enjoy :) It's not the stuff you guys are used to from me, but hey, I gotta try new things now don't I? So basically, if you gots 5 min to kill, play that game...right there... above.... in the orange text^ Artsed by Xelu and has an Original Soundtrack by MaestroRage :D

University's starting soon for me. Kinda a good and bad thing; the bad being I'll have even less time to make games but w/e. Hence I will be missing Po3, but maybe you'll hear from me again soon bout some minigame or watnot.

Ciao

TWO NEW GAMES GOING TO BE HITTING THE PORTAL VERY VERY SOON!

Both are completely different game genres than what I'm used to, but they've both turned out quite well... or at least I think so. You'll be the final judge! WATCH OUT 'cause they'll be hitting the portal within the next week or so!

> Also new logo in the top left. :)

WATCH OUT!

New game coming out? Since when Coolio?!

Well since I had surgery just a week or so back, I can't really walk around much and hang out in the real world, so I decided to get back to game making after a longgg time away from it after school and such. So Po3 and this unnamed game below are in the works. Expect to see this one soon! :D

Edit: My artist is being a real tight-ass, but it's ok cuz i <3 him anyway. (3d-xelu)

What? What's this?

I need"ed" an artist to work on a top down shooter game I want to make over the next week or so (not longer). Just a simple action arcade shooter.

Screeny of current progress below; it's quite fun :) Wish us luck.

Want some free publicity on your music? Want your songs to be listened to by hundreds? Then check this game out:

RhythmWorld

Any song on the NG Audio Portal can be synced into the game and then hundreds of people will have access to play it! Some songs may even be featured if they are well synced/popular! So don't miss this chance to get your music out there more! Currently the game is only on the Armorgames site but within a week XceeD and I will spread it all over the web, including Newgrounds.

Get your music in now! Tell your friends to play too and rate your songs up as well (more likely to be featured if it's high rated). Bring the world together with your music!

Many of the people who go on NG and play the games don't realize just how complex the programmers behind the games' minds are. (grammar?)

And so, I made a game, that some of you have already seen, to show how the inner workings of the programmer's mind "work". Of course, the logic is there but the code isn't, and it is far less complex, but I think it's some good brain excercise and fun too if you get into it.

light-Bot Play it Now!

And also, thanks for all the votes that got me to daily third =) <3 you guys.
