Good for the most part.

The second game, not chaoz, was original and fun. Chaoz on the other hand just seemed to me to be a ripoff of all the games ive ever made, but since it had good graphix and interesting gameplay ill let that pass.

Overall 7/10
4/5

Coolio-N

Phendrana responds:

Thanks for the 4, but don't credit yourself so much for Chaoz. I made it last November, but hadn't finished it up until this contest gave me the incentive. And if I remember correctly, you've used plenty of other game ideas/styles in your games (some of which are for this very contest).

Again, thanks for the positive review, but please don't use words like "ripoff". I don't appreciate that very much.

Best Flash version of EBA.

I really enjoyed this one =) You have got to be my second competitor (after tyler's incubus pulsum) that I want to see do good. Best replication of Elite Beat Agents i have seen and i know how tough it must have been to code this engine, Ive tried to make a similar one before.

+ Great graphix
+ Near perfect sync (hard to pull off =] )
+ Great choice of music, especially the last song.
- Differences in difficulty didnt seem all that different.
- Wouldve loved something to unlock by the end, or at least a min of 5 songs

Great job and good luck in the competition,
Your rhythm based pal,
Coolio-N

XceeD responds:

Hey :D! I must say that you and tyler are my biggest competitors. I really hope you guys win too :D.
I'll be sure to add some unlocking later on, esp. when I get more songs.
Thanks for the review and good luck in the competition.

Alright game

It was a good game cept the fact that it was too slow. The places where it needed to be slow though were fast :S Let me explain.

Some of the spinning speeds were too insanely fast for the eye to even see which arrow key was shown on which side. The little white stars though came soo slowly and so infrequently that the game kinda bored me :S The difficulty in this game was mainly not being able to see properly rather than pressing the notes at the right time. Still it was very well artsed and creatively done. I stand in 4th right now in the highscore tables.

+Good concept
+Graphically pleasing

-Poor center of attention to the game
-Ez difficulty.
- Not too much replay value

7/10 , 3/5
Good luck in the comp,

I really like this game ^^

I prob shudnt be saying this since you are a competitor...but i rly enjoyed it. sure it was hard at first but percevering i got to the hard song and got (i think) halfway thru it before finally giving up. Medium tho took me like 15 tries :S

As mentioned earlier the animation of the insect or w/e in the middle kinda does throw you off, and if you mess up enough that theres no song to be heard the game gets even harder XD otherwise its so original and fun to play...i have to give it an overall 8/10.

Sadly enough some NGers arent used to rhythm games and so will find this game incredibly impossible, even the first level, so rather than waste your time telling them to retry or that they'll get better after a few tries, ignore those reviews, in their minds they're still going to think its too hard.

Overall its a great game, no doubt about it. Amazing graphix and fun gameplay. Difficulty is high but I love that =) ill be sure to play again.

Peace,
Coolio-N

Glaiel-Gamer responds:

as long as you don't downvote as a competitor it's cool. That's probably one reason why these rhythm games are scoring so low.

An ok twist on tetris.

Definitly new, this game brings originality to the table. Unfortuneatly the poor sync of it is its downfall. All the songs were synced in the exact same pattern and the beat meter was extremely hard to follow. Negative scores really destroy the fun of this game but otherwise the idea is new.

Graphix:simple
Style:New n original
Sound: Gets repetitive
Violence:none
Interactivity: Hitting keys to the beat didnt seem to be to the main or loudest beat at all...rather a more metronome type pressing time.
Humour:none

Overall: Good game, needs a few more things to make gameplay more enjoyable like better sync and different score system. Best of luck in the competition.

Peace,
Coolio-N

Fickludd responds:

Thanks for the review! I was going for something new but where you had to stay in rhythm (not merely generating enemies to the beat). Then i didn't wanna make complicated beats because that would have made it too hard i think =P. Perhaps Metromone Tetris would have been more accurate...

I the end it seem like making a Guitar Hero type game would have gotten me lots of higher scores, but maybe originality WILL count for something :D!

Interesting game =)

Definitly original in some respects, enjoyed it.

Graphix: nice and simple
Style: Original
Sound: Alright...not fully my taste coz it felt like it was just a loop :s
Violence:Shooting stuff
Interactivity: Here is where you lost a few points. Double clicking for bombs would ezily make me waste em. But thats just gameplay. The spawn of disks didnt seem to be synced (if it was sorry just it didnt seem like it nor did it stand out). The lag on the last menu upon finishing the song was also very untasteful.

On the bright side, nice controls, simple, effective, nice cursor effect to make the guitar and good coding on shooting and powerups.

Humour: Not needed

Overall I liked it, best of luck in the contest =)

That is one amazing game

Ok so in order,

Graphics: Amazing job Buzz, just phenomenal, and the art remained of the same style throughout, very creative, very cute and very colourful to match various levels together.

Style: Platformers have obviously been done before but linking so many types of game genres together in this one makes it worth playing and very original.

Sound: Great sound choices, i especially liked the one for the chase level.

Violence: Shoot beams at stuff.

Interactivity: I have to hand it to you, that was so well programmed, and the fact that there was no lag on high quality for such enormous levels was phenomenal. GREAT job!

Humour: Funny circle ^^

Overall : I loved this game. The passion you guys put into it really shows and i wish you guys best of luck with your next projects.

Peace,
Coolio-N

TrueDarkness responds:

Thanks a bunch, it's reviews like these that keep us going.
It's hard to believe people play it on high quality, guess I need another new computer lol. Glad you liked it, we'll make sure to push out another game soon.

Beautiful Graphics for a rhythm game =)

I thoroughly enjoyed how the game was presented and how the background was synced with AS3, great job on that. Uploading songs was also really sweet, never seen somthing like it before =)

The graphix were amazing but unfortuneatly where the game lacked was gameplay. I like how you went for a sort of original gameplay which involved the mouse but unfotuneatly it was hard to see how the little symbols synced to the music, if at all...

So overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Made me laugh at how blind i was after the strobe effect. Next time try to make the user feel more connected to the game music-wise, since even though the background was synced, the other objects didnt seem to be (if they are my apologies) and the user spends most of their time looking at that.

Lastly, thank you for your advise on removing filters in my own game.

Outstanding job, hope you make the top 10,
Peace,
Coolio-N

Glaiel-Gamer responds:

thanks for the advise. It's REALLY hard to have stuff synched up with the music as flash gives it in a crappy form, so this is probably what you'll see of AS3 games. Anyway I'm making a 2nd AS2 based game with hand designed levels so it should be a lot better than this experimental game.

B E A UTIFUL

Rly awesome gameplay, sweet level designs, and prob perfect for the wii as well. Haha gel, you just had to submit on the same day as us, if it werent for you we woulda gotten daily first :P But I love your game and keep making more.

BTW whatever happend to wink? I cant wait to see more stuff with him =D

Sweet job, rly nice game =)
